Who Writes the Rules is a story-telling campaign which focuses on marginalised people’s exclusion in the rule-making of their online democratic experience across two planes: the legislative process and Big Tech’s platform policies.
Project: Who Writes the Rules is a narrative influencing campaign I conceptualised, designed, and delivered for Digital Action. The campaign’s goal is to reinforce that digital threats to democracy are a systemic issue. It aims to achieve this by drawing on storytelling tactics that do not reduce those who have experienced tech “harm” to soundbites, but rather highlighting how their lived experience influences their expertise in developing alternative approaches to platform governance. By connecting the stories of racialised and marginalised women in the EU, it illuminates their exclusion from the governance of their online democratic experience.
